Mavericks vs Pelicans Betting Pick
This game will be played at Smoothie King Center at 8:00 PM ET on Thursday, February 17, 2022.
Why Bet The Mavericks:
✅ The Mavericks hope to extend their good run of form. Dallas has gone 5-1 straight up and ATS in its last six games at any location. During that stretch, the Mavs have met some very good teams, outlasting the Philadelphia 76ers 107-98 and Miami Heat 107-99 in the process. On the other side, the Pelicans have gone 1-3 SU and ATS over their last four contests. New Orleans has lost seven of its previous 12 games overall.
✅ Luka Doncic has been unstoppable as of late, averaging 32.0 points, 9.8 rebounds, and 10.5 assists per game in his last ten appearances. He’s been making 48.2% of his field goals and 41.6% of his 3-pointers, so Luka should torture the Pelicans all night long. New Orleans is not a good defensive team. The Pels surrender 112.5 points per 100 possessions (22nd in the league) on 36.2% shooting from deep (26th). The Mavs, on the other side, allow only 107.2 points per 100 possessions (5th) on 33.4% shooting from beyond the arc (3rd).

✅ The Mavericks have dominated the Pelicans over the last few years. Dallas is 8-2 SU and 7-3 ATS in its previous ten meetings with New Orleans. Also, the Mavs have covered the spread in 12 of their last 18 road contests against the Pels.
Dallas Mavericks
The Mavericks returned to the winning path last Tuesday, outlasting the Miami Heat 107-99 as 5.5-point road underdogs. After a tough 99-97 defeat to the LA Clippers, the Mavs opened a five-game road trip in style, going 18-for-41 from downtown (43.9%).
Luka Doncic had an awful shooting night in Florida. He went 5-for-19 from the field and finished with 21 points, ten rebounds, and six assists. The Heat proved they are a tough defensive unit, but the Mavericks played great defense as well, holding Miami to only 41.7% shooting from the field and 25.9% from beyond the 3-point line.
New Orleans Pelicans
The Pelicans snapped a two-game skid with an emphatic 120-90 home victory to the Toronto Raptors last Monday. They failed to make it a win streak on the second night of a back-to-back set, suffering a 121-109 defeat to the Memphis Grizzlies.
C.J. McCollum continues to lead the way for the Pels. Since he joined New Orleans at the trade deadline, McCollum has averaged 26.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 5.5 assists through four appearances. He was terrific against the Grizzlies, posting a line of 30 points, seven assists, six rebounds, and a couple of steals.
