Texas Southern finished eighth in the SWAC regular season standings, but the they won three games in a row, which was tied for their longest winning streak of the season, to lift the SWAC trophy. The Tigers upset the top seeded Grambling Tigers to lift the trophy for the third straight season.
Not a very good team, the Tigers rank at 292nd and are just 10-11 in their games against Quad Four opponents.
Texas Southern is back in the NCAA Tournament for the third straight season and are participating in the First Four round for the fourth time. The Tigers unbeaten in their previous three appearances having won all three times by 8+ points.
