Stampeders vs Blue Bombers Betting Preview
A solid contest out of the gate for the Canadian Football League this week, as the Calgary Stampeders visit the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. It’s the third meeting between the two teams this season, with the Blue Bombers winning the first two games by a touchdown each time. The Bombers won 26-19 in Calgary and followed that up with a 35-28 home victory two weeks later.
The Stampeders have been like schoolyard bullies so far this year, beating the weaker teams and then going 0-3 against the top two teams in the league. But all three losses have been close, with a 41-40 loss to British Columbia the other blemish on the Stampeders’ record.
Calgary hasn’t always been impressive in their victories, having three wins by a field goal, despite playing a few of the weaker teams in the league. The Stampeders have been a little better away from home so far this year, going 4-1 on the road.
The Blue Bombers had last week to lick their wounds, as they suffered their first loss of the season last time out when they were upset by the Montreal Alouettes as 9-point favorites. Beating a team three times in a season isn’t necessarily easy, especially a good team like Calgary. But Winnipeg is more than capable of getting the job done, especially if the defense is playing well.

Stampeders vs Blue Bombers Pick & Prediction
The line climbed from 5.5 to 6.5 Wednesday afternoon, as Calgary announced Jake Maier will get the start at quarterback over Bo Levi Mitchell. Mitchell’s struggles are something I’ve written about plenty when looking at Calgary games, but the line move shows he still does carry some respect with bettors.
Running back Ka’Deem Carey is listed as questionable for Calgary even though he was a full practice participant on Monday and Tuesday, so have to believe he will go. Maier has played well against Winnipeg in the past and think the benching of Mitchell might light a fire under the team.
CFL Pick: Calgary +6.5
