Lions at Roughriders Betting Preview
British Columbia wasn’t all that impressive in last week’s win over Hamilton and have seen their offensive output drop each game of the season. One reason for that is quarterback Nathan Rourke has thrown two interceptions in three straight games. He still leads the league in TD passes and passing efficiency but isn’t playing the way he did in the Lions first couple of games this season.

With the Lions turning the ball over, it’s also taken away from James Butler and the rushing game. After averaging 14 carries in the team’s first three games and scoring three TDs, he’s had 21 carries the last two games and no touchdowns.
The Roughriders should have pretty much everybody back from the COVID list, including quarterback Cody Fajardo, who missed last week’s game. He’s practicing this week, but his damaged MCL will affect his ability to run the ball. Still, the Lions led the league in passing defense and Fajardo threw three interceptions last game he played.
While shorthanded last week against Toronto, the Roughriders did have the lead entering the fourth quarter. Saskatchewan hasn’t lost at home in back-to-back weeks since 2016.

Lions vs. Roughriders Pick & Prediction
Saskatchewan has had British Columbia’s number lately, but this could be the best British Columbia team we’ve seen in a while. The Lions’ first two games could also be a bit of a fluke, as it’s hard to tell after back-to-back losses to undefeated Winnipeg and a non-covering win over the Tiger-Cats last week.
The Lions are going to have to do a better job protecting the football, namely Rourke, who could also take away the Roughriders’ strength on defense – sacking the quarterback – due to his running ability.

Likewise, Saskatchewan will have to protect Fajardo a little bit more than normal. The Lions average 2.4 sacks per game and will be trying to bring the pressure against Fajardo and his mobility not being all the way there.
The ‘Riders will have to slow down the British Columbia rushing game, while has to include Rourke and his 188 yards on the ground on just 19 carries. If the Lions are able to move the ball on the ground, it will open up the passing attack.
