The Boston Celtics took a stranglehold on the Eastern Conference Finals against the Miami Heat in Game 5 on Wednesday night. Their defense showed up once again to give them a 3-2 series lead, and the Celtics now have a chance to advance to the NBA Finals at home. In our NBA betting picks for Friday, we look at Heat vs Celtics Game 6, in what could be the final game of this season between two Eastern Conference teams.
Why Bet The Celtics:
✅ The point spread does not feel like a huge factor in this game, as every game has been a blowout win by one team or another. Either this game will go to the Heat on the moneyline, or the Celtics in a blowout. But I like the Celtics as the more likely option in this contest, as they should be able to close this series out on their home floor.
✅ The Miami Heat cannot buy a three-point basket at this point in the series. They went 7/45 from three-point range in Game 5 at home, with shooters like Max Strus and Kyle Lowry offering very little threat from long distance. That is going to cost the Heat here and help the Celtics get to the NBA Finals on Friday night.

✅ The scary thing for the Heat is that Jayson Tatum has not played all that well of late. He has gone 4/22 from three-point range in his last three games in this series. He is going to get back on track in this contest from the perimeter, and that is going to be a huge boost for a Boston team that will not need that much offensively to win anyway.
Miami Heat
Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals was a nightmare for the Miami Heat, as they could not buy a bucket in the second half. They were outscored by 18 points in the final two quarters of that game, putting Miami in a position where they now need to win on the road in order to avoid elimination in Game 6.
For the Heat, the question is who is going to provide the offensive spark that they need to have a chance in this game. Bam Adebayo and Jimmy Butler have not performed to their usually high standards, and Max Strus and Kyle Lowry have been actively hurting the Heat. They need someone to step up and lead the scoring charge or things could get ugly in a hurry.
Boston Celtics
The Boston Celtics weathered the early storm in Game 5 of this series and delivered plenty of blows of their own in the second half to run away with the game. Their defense was stout throughout, and Jaylen Brown really elevated his game in the second half to help the Celtics build a comfortable margin that they held onto. Now, the Celtics will look to win this game at home to advance to the NBA Finals against the Golden State Warriors.
For Boston, the key to this game is going to be simply continuing to do what they have done so well throughout this postseason. Blocking out the significance of tonight and continuing to hit big shots and lock down on defense will be the ultimate goal for Ime Udoka’s team, as the Tatum and Brown Celtics have yet to succeed at this level before.
