- Chicago is much healthier than they were when they beat the Liberty, as they have Isabelle Harrison, Diamond DeShields, and Kamilla Cardoso all on the floor now.
- The Liberty are just 2-7 against the spread on the season, with their two covers coming against the Indiana Fever.
One of the biggest upsets in the 2024 WNBA season so far came when the Chicago Sky beat the New York Liberty at Barclays Center. On Tuesday night, the Sky and Liberty face off again, with the Sky playing the role of host this time around. Here, you will find our WNBA betting picks for Liberty vs Sky, as New York aims to avenge its upset loss from earlier in the season.
This game will be played at 8:00 PM ET at Wintrust Arena on Tuesday, June 4, 2024.
New York Liberty
The New York Liberty enter Tuesday’s play in the WNBA in second place in the league standings with a record of 7-2. One of their two losses came to this same Chicago Sky team, as the Liberty allowed five Sky players to score in double-digits in that game. Here, New York will look to be better on the defensive end of the floor to improve to 8-2 and erase the bitter taste of that previous loss to Chicago.
If the Liberty want to avoid a second loss to Chicago in as many tries this season, rebounding the basketball will be a must. New York allowed 11 offensive rebounds to the Sky in their first meeting of the season. And with some frontcourt reinforcements being back for the Sky ahead of this rematch, New York has to do a better job of committing bodies to the defensive glass.
Chicago Sky
Going into this Sky vs Liberty matchup, the Chicago Sky has been surrounded by controversy due to physical play against Indiana’s Caitlin Clark. Most of that controversy is bad-faith nonsense from media personalities who refuse to cover the league in earnest. But it will be interesting to see how that all impacts the Sky on the floor in their first game since losing to the Fever on Saturday afternoon.
More important than their ability to take criticism from the media will be the ability of the Sky to execute their offense and make shots to keep up with the high-powered offense of New York. Marina Mabrey made eight of her 13 shots from the field against New York in Chicago’s win at Barclays Center in May. Coming off of a shooting game that was below her usual standard, Mabrey’s shooting in this contest will be a big key in deciding the outcome.
