The WNBA delivers one of its marquee games on Tuesday night as the New York Liberty travel to Las Vegas to face the Aces. These teams have been the standard of excellence in the league over the last several seasons, and this meeting serves as an early measuring stick between championship contenders. Las Vegas enters the contest with an 12-4 record, while New York sits at 11-6. With A'ja Wilson playing at an MVP level and Breanna Stewart leading a balanced Liberty attack, fans should expect a playoff-like atmosphere inside Michelob ULTRA Arena.
Las Vegas owns a slight edge entering this game. The Aces are averaging 90.1 points per game and are shooting 49% from the field, both among the best marks in the league. New York has been excellent offensively as well, averaging 89.1 points per contest, but the Liberty arrive after a disappointing loss tot he LA Sparks and face one of their toughest road assignments of the season here.
The biggest difference in this matchup is the presence of Wilson. She is averaging 25.7 points and 9.1 rebounds per game while serving as the focal point of the Aces on both ends of the floor. Stewart remains one of the league's elite players with 19.4 points per game, but Las Vegas has been slightly more efficient offensively and has committed fewer turnovers. In what should be a close contest throughout, the Aces' home-court and interior advantages make them the preferred side in my eyes.
Parlay Odds: +360
The Aces have been one of the highest-scoring teams in the WNBA, averaging more than 90 points per game. New York also ranks among the league leaders in scoring, making the total attractive in a game featuring several elite offensive players. With both teams capable of stretching the floor and generating transition opportunities, a game in the high 170s is well within reach.
Wilson is the centerpiece of the parlay. She enters the game averaging over 25 points per contest and has consistently produced against elite opponents. Pairing her scoring production with an Aces victory and a game that reaches the over creates a correlated parlay for one of the most anticipated WNBA games of the week.
Breanna Stewart Over 8.5 Rebounds +108
Stewart is averaging 8.9 rebounds per game and remains New York's most reliable presence on the glass. Las Vegas plays at a fast pace and generates plenty of shot attempts, creating additional rebounding opportunities. In a game expected to remain competitive for four quarters, Stewart should see a full workload and has a strong chance to reach double-digit rebounds.
Category | New York Liberty | Las Vegas Aces |
|---|---|---|
Offensive Rating | 110.3 | 112.1 |
Defensive Rating | 103.5 | 106.9 |
Net Rating | +6.8 | +5.2 |
Pace | 96.14 | 96.26 |
Effective FG % | 54.2% | 54.9% |
Rebound % | 53.4% | 51.5% |
This game is priced appropriately by oddsmakers, with very little separating the two teams. New York has been strong away from home and features one of the league's deepest rosters. Still, Las Vegas owns the more explosive offense, has the best player on the floor in Wilson, and benefits from home court advantage. The Liberty should keep things close behind Stewart and Sabrina Ionescu, but the Aces have the edge in efficiency, interior scoring, and late-game shot creation, so I'll lay the points with Vegas.
