- Atlanta is set to be without Rhyne Howard for this game due to an ankle injury suffered earlier this week, which will make a bad offensive team even worse.
- Atlanta also does not have a true center that can consistently guard Aliyah Boston, giving the edge to Indiana in this contest.
When the Atlanta Dream and Indiana Fever meet on Friday night, it will be the second time they face off this season. Indiana won the first game of their season series, bludgeoning the Dream in the paint down the stretch, something they will look to repeat in this contest. Continue reading for our WNBA betting picks for Fever vs Dream from State Farm Arena in Atlanta.
This game will be played at State Farm Arena at 7:30 PM ET on Friday, June 21, 2024.
Indiana Fever
Going into Friday’s Fever vs Dream matchup, the Indiana Fever are playing their best basketball of the 2024 WNBA season so far. They have won three games in a row to get to 6-10 on the year and they find themselves in eighth place in the league standings, which would be good enough for a playoff spot if they could hold onto that positioning. Tonight, the Fever are aiming for a fourth win in a row against a team they have already defeated once this year.
While Caitlin Clark will continue to receive the lion’s share of the attention going into this matchup, Aliyah Boston will be the key to the success of the Fever tonight. Boston scored 27 points on 12/21 shooting against the Dream in Indiana earlier this season. The Dream don’t have a true five to stop Boston, which means she could feast again here tonight in the ATL.
Atlanta Dream
Going into Friday’s WNBA action, the Atlanta Dream hold a record of 6-7, good for seventh place in the WNBA standings in 2024. They lost their last game, a double-digit loss on the road against the Minnesota Lynx. There is certainly no shame in losing to the Lynx given how well they have played so far this year. But the Dream only managed to score 55 points in that game, as Atlanta is now the lowest-scoring team in the WNBA, averaging 75.7 points per game.
The Atlanta Dream have joined the many other WNBA teams that have moved a home game against the Indiana Fever to a larger venue. The Dream have moved tonight’s game from their typical home venue, Gateway Center, to State Farm Arena which is the home venue for the Atlanta Hawks. It will be interesting to see if that venue change benefits the Dream at all or if an influx of Caitlin Clark fans hurts the Dream tonight.
What is sure to hurt the Dream more than the venue for this game is the absence of Rhyne Howard. Howard went down in the third quarter of Wednesday’s loss to the Lynx with an ankle injury, which really ground the Atlanta offense to a halt that night. Without her here, the Dream offense could continue to struggle, even against a suspect Indiana defense.
