Kansas City Chiefs
The Kansas City Chiefs will head into Super Bowl LVIII after winning two straight games on the road to win the AFC championship. After taking out the top-two seeds in their conference over the last two weeks, the Chiefs will look to take out another elite opponent as they aim to win their third Super Bowl during the Andy Reid/Patrick Mahomes era.
While so much of the focus will be on Mahomes, Taylor Swift, and countless other areas, the star of the show for the Chiefs has been their defense, which is the cornerstone of our Super Bowl 58 prediction. Kansas City ranked second in the NFL in scoring defense during the regular season and rank second in scoring defense in the postseason as well. Their ability to stack up stops only makes the presence of Mahomes on offense more dangerous, as the Chiefs will like their chances to add another trophy to their collection.
San Francisco 49ers
It was by no means pretty, but the San Francisco 49ers made it to Super Bowl LVIII by taking down a pair of NFC North opponents in the playoffs. They squeaked by the Green Bay Packers in the Divisional round and came back from 17 points down against the Detroit Lions in the NFC Championship Game. But there are no style points in the NFL playoffs and the Niners will look to cash in on a golden opportunity here.
The biggest question for the Niners when betting on 49ers vs Chiefs against the spread will be whether or not they can get off to a faster start in this game than they have in previous playoff contests. The Niners have struggled in the first half of their first two postseason games in this campaign. They will not be able to afford to do that against the Chiefs, who have the experience to close games like this one.
