Conference Championship weekend gets underway with the Eagles hosting the 49ers to decide the NFC representative in the Super Bowl. The 49ers advanced last week with a fairly narrow home win against the Cowboys. The Eagles advanced with a domination of the Giants at home. With last week’s results considered, the Eagles are set as a -2.5 point favorite at home.

Why Bet The Gainwell Over
✅ Gainwell’s usage was extremely high last week against the Giants, and he had quite a good game with the increased touches. Gainwell turned a season high 12 rushing attempts to 112 rushing yards with a touchdown added. We simply do not know if this is the type of usage to expect for the remainder of the playoffs, but even with a volume decrease, the tiny 10.5 yard rushing figure will be an easy one for him to surpass. In four of the past five games in which Gainwell has at least one carry, he has had at least 17 rushing yards.
✅ The 49ers are generally quite stout against opposing rushers. It is difficult to expect anything resembling a repeat of the success Philly had on the ground last week. With that said, it is likely the Eagles throw multiple looks at the 49ers. If there is a running back to be swallowed up, it is likely Miles Sanders on plays that are more north-south runs, while Gainwell attacks the edge.
Philadelphia Eagles
The Eagles were the most dominant regular season team, at least leading up to the last couple weeks of the season. Their loss to the Saints was an embarrassing one, and it forced them to play to win the final week of the season to secure homefield advantage. They were far from impressive in that game, but righted the ship last week with the dismantling of the division rival Giants. They will need a repeat of that performance to advance to the Super Bowl.
San Francisco 49ers
It is no secret that the 49ers have been the league’s hottest team since their acquisition of running back Christian McCaffrey. He brings the element the offense needs and complements the high end defense perfectly. Brock Purdy has played admirably, but has run well in terms of potential interceptions not coming to fruition. He will need to play better in this high end matchup that allows no margin for error.
