UNLV With a Chance In MWC Race
UNLV is 8-2 overall and 4-1 in the Mountain West Conference this season. Their two losses this year have come against Syracuse of the ACC and an elite Boise State team in conference play. They will look to avoid another loss this week, one that would knock them out of contention to make the conference championship game in the Mountain West. To get a win this week, quarterback Hajj-Malik Williams will need to continue to take care of the football, as he enters this game with just three interceptions on the season after taking over as the starter in Vegas.
San Jose State Looks to Pull Off an Upset
San Jose State looked like they would pull off a huge upset last week, taking a 14-0 lead in the first half against Boise State. But the Spartans eventually relinquished that lead and lost in convincing fashion. This week, the Spartans have another chance to pull off a significant upset at home against a conference opponent. For that to happen, the Spartans will need to contain Williams and get enough pressure on him to speed him up.
UNLV vs San Jose State Best Bet
We are going to take the points with the home underdog in Friday’s UNLV vs San Jose State clash in the Mountain West. The Spartans are certainly not playing at as high a level as UNLV this season. But we saw flashes of brilliance from San Jose State against a very good Boise State team this past week and we should see another competitive effort from the Spartans here even if UNLV should win outright when all is said and done.
