- Both of these teams are missing significant pieces of their roster, but the Sparks have the best individual player remaining in this game in Dearica Hamby.
- The Sparks beat the Mystics once at home this season already and should be a threat to do it again.
Things have not gone well for the Washington Mystics and Los Angeles Sparks to start the 2024 WNBA season. Both of these teams are in the bottom-three in the league standings so far this year. But one of them has to win on Tuesday night when they face off in Los Angeles. Here you will find our WNBA betting picks for Mystics vs Sparks out West.
This game will be played at 10:00 PM ET at Crypto.com Arena on Tuesday, July 2, 2024.
Washington Mystics
The Washington Mystics were the last team in the WNBA to get a win this season. They are tied for the worst record in the league at 4-15 and injuries have once again prevented them from reaching their full potential. The Mystics are without Brittney Sykes, Shakira Austin, and Karlie Samuelson for tonight’s game against the LA Sparks, which could once again cost them dearly.
If the Mystics are going to win in spite of all of those injuries tonight, the three-point shooting of Stefanie Dolson will be a big reason for that. She is making over two threes per game for the Mystics out of the frontcourt and shooting an exceptional 50% from three-point range, which is tops in the league. Washington will need Dolson to shine from the perimeter again here if they want to grab their fifth win on the year.
Los Angeles Sparks
The LA Sparks go into tonight’s Mystics vs Sparks matchup with a record of 4-14, the third-worst record in the WNBA. They have lost seven games in a row coming into this contest, the longest active losing streak in the WNBA. But they will aim to end that losing streak against the Mystics here in arguably the most winnable game the Sparks will see for the rest of the season.
Dearica Hamby has been the lone bright spot for the struggling Sparks this season. She has averaged 18.4 points per game and is coming off of back-to-back games where she has scored at least 20 points. After putting up 29 in a loss to the Phoenix Mercury last time out, Hamby’s contributions will once again be key if the Sparks want any chance of snapping their losing streak and getting a win over Washington.
