- The Wings are dealing with some major injury concerns going into this game, with Natasha Howard and Satou Sabally both out for this contest.
- Dallas has yet to play on the road, while this is also the home opener for the Dream, which should work in Atlanta’s favor.
Both the Dallas Wings and Atlanta Dream have started their 2024 WNBA seasons with 1-1 records after splitting their first two games. On Tuesday night, they will meet in Atlanta, with both teams looking to get above the .500 mark for the season. Continue reading for our WNBA betting picks for Wings vs Dream, in what is an important early-season contest for both of these teams looking to make noise in the W this year.
This game will be played at 7:30 PM ET at Gateway Center on Tuesday, May 21, 2024.
Dallas Wings
The Dallas Wings played the first two games of their WNBA season at home against the Chicago Sky. They won the first of those two games, thanks to a huge run in the fourth quarter. They then dropped the second game of their two-game homestand against Chicago, as the offense of the Wings could not play up to its usual standard in that matchup. Now, the Wings will look to overcome some injury adversity to get back above .500 against Atlanta.
Satou Sabally was out from the start of the season and is expected to be out until the Olympic break concludes. But the Wings will also be without Natasha Howard for this game, after Howard suffered a broken foot in her season opener against Chicago. That leaves the Wings a little short-handed in the frontcourt, even if Teaira McCowan and Kalani Brown are talented bigs who can make plays in the absence of Sabally and Howard.
Atlanta Dream
Atlanta also split its first two games of this season, doing so on the road. The Dream won their opener against the new-look LA Sparks, before losing in Phoenix to the Mercury, who were without Brittney Griner for that matchup. Now the Dream will aim to get themselves back above the .500 mark, as they play in front of their home crowd for the first time this season.
Defense is going to be the key for Atlanta in tonight’s Wings vs Dream contest. Atlanta gave up over 80 points in each of its first two games against teams that have some clear roster limitations. But the Dream will hope that playing at home will mean some better play on the defensive end of the floor. That is far from a guarantee with Arike Ogunbowale on the other side in this game, but if Atlanta can grind out some stops they should be able to win comfortably against a banged-up opponent.
