Curry vs Ionescu Odds
At the time of this writing, the odds for the Stephen vs Sabrina showdown are as follows:
- Curry: -334
- Ionescu: +220
Now, there is a ton that goes into making betting lines for any sporting event, especially one that is without precedent. But this event feels like it should be more of a pick ’em than anything else. There is no defense being played on each side, both players are shooting with the basketballs and distances they are used to. To have Ionescu as such an underdog in this matchup makes her the right play regardless of the result.
Stephen vs Sabrina Date & Time
The Curry vs Ionescu three-point contest is scheduled to take place on All-Star Saturday Night, which is scheduled for Saturday, February 17, 2024. That event begins at 8:00 PM ET, with this particular event happening at some point after that start time, but likely before the NBA three-point and dunk contests take place.
Stephen vs Sabrina Rules
The rules for this event involve different basketballs and distances for each shooter. Steph Curry will shoot from the NBA three-point line with NBA basketballs, while Ionescu will shoot from the WNBA three-point distance with WNBA basketballs. Per USA Basketball, the difference in three-point lines is slightly shorter in the WNBA, though Ionescu did initially volunteer to shoot from NBA distance before these rules were set.
In any case, both shooters will likely have 1:10 to shoot 27 times, five shots from each of five stations on the three-point line and two from “Starry Range”, which are longer-distance shots sponsored by what used to be Sierra Mist. The player with the most points scored in their 27 shots will win this basketball battle of the sexes.
Stephen Curry Three-Point Contest History
Steph Curry has won the NBA three-point contest twice in his incredible NBA career. He did so once in the 2014-15 season and once in the 2020-21 season. Before Ionescu’s performance in the 2023 WNBA three-point contest, Curry held the record for the most points scored in a three-point contest with 31. Curry is the record-holder for the most made threes in the history of the NBA during normal game competition as well.
Sabrina Ionescu Three-Point Contest History
Sabrina Ionescu has one three-point contest title under her belt as a professional. She won the 2023 WNBA three-point contest with a record-setting performance of 37 points out of a possible 40 points in the final round. She missed a total of two shots in that round, decimating the competition en route to the trophy.
Who Wins Stephen vs Sabrina Showdown?
As far as who will actually win this three-point shooting contest/battle of the sexes, that is anyone’s guess. Both of these shooters are lethal and could end up making every shot they take. But in terms of the best bet for this contest, our Stephen vs Sabrina prediction is on Ionescu, as getting better than 2/1 odds on a contest that is truly even is an offer too good to pass up on.
