The 2026 NBA Finals opened with a surprise result as the New York Knicks erased a 14-point second-half deficit and stunned the San Antonio Spurs 105-95 in Game 1. Jalen Brunson delivered another signature postseason performance with 30 points, while Karl-Anthony Towns added 18 points and 12 rebounds. Now the pressure shifts squarely onto San Antonio heading into Game 2 at Frost Bank Center. The Spurs remain favored at home, but the Knicks have won 12 consecutive playoff games and have shown an ability to thrive in hostile environments. Before tip-off of Knicks vs Spurs Game 2, continue reading to get my prediction for this important contest.
Game 1 revealed a significant edge for New York in late-game execution. The Knicks committed zero turnovers during the fourth quarter while San Antonio struggled with shot selection and ball security. Brunson repeatedly created quality looks in crunch time, and the Knicks found ways to pull Victor Wembanyama away from the basket with Towns' floor spacing.
San Antonio still possesses the higher ceiling because of Wembanyama and home-court advantage, but the market appears to be overreacting to previous expectations and regular-season power ratings. The Knicks have consistently exceeded expectations throughout the playoffs and enter Game 2 with tremendous confidence. Taking the points offers value, and New York has a realistic opportunity to leave Texas with a 2-0 series lead.
Parlay Odds: +525
The Knicks have covered consistently throughout the postseason and showed in Game 1 that they can win outright in San Antonio. The Under is attractive after both teams combined for only 200 points in the series opener, and Finals basketball typically produces slower possessions and increased defensive intensity. Brunson has become New York's go-to scorer, producing 30 points in Game 1 and carrying one of the highest usage rates in the postseason. That trend should continue here as well.
Karl-Anthony Towns Over 11.5 Rebounds at -115
Towns grabbed 12 rebounds in Game 1 and continues to play heavy minutes. His ability to pull Wembanyama away from the basket creates additional rebounding opportunities on both ends of the floor. San Antonio's aggressive perimeter defense also leads to long rebound chances, which favor Towns' activity level.

This postseason, the Knicks have been the best team in basketball by a wide margin. Game 1 highlighted New York's biggest advantage, one that doesn't show up in the stats: late-game decision-making. Brunson controlled the pace, Towns stretched the defense, and the Knicks repeatedly forced the Spurs into difficult half-court possessions. Wembanyama finished with 26 points and 12 rebounds, but he shot just 6-for-21 from the field and struggled during the decisive stretch.
The Spurs are capable of a bounce-back effort, especially at home, but asking them to cover more than five points against a Knicks team riding a 12-game playoff winning streak feels aggressive. New York has proven it can handle pressure situations and has the best closer in the series with Brunson. My projection calls for another tight contest, making the Knicks plus the points the strongest betting option for Game 2.
