Golden State Warriors Betting Preview
The Golden State Warriors won the NBA championship two seasons ago, but could not repeat last year. There is no shame in that, of course, but last year’s version of the Warriors rarely looked like a championship squad. This year, the Dubs will look to get back to the top of the mountain in the NBA, and have made some interesting changes in their attempt to do so.
Golden State will have Chris Paul on their roster this year, which will create interesting questions about rotations and team chemistry. We attempt to answer some of those questions in our 2023-24 Golden State Warriors season preview.

Offseason Transactions
Key Additions: Chris Paul, Dario Saric, Cory Joseph
Key Departures: Jordan Poole, Donte DiVincenzo, JaMychal Green
Golden State has tried to reconfigure their roster to some degree in order to remain a championship caliber team. They traded away Jordan Poole and brought in Chris Paul, which is an interesting move in that Poole is more talented at this stage of his career, but there were clear chemistry issues between him and Draymond Green. Will Paul be able to elevate this team? Who knows, but Golden State had to do something, and did.
The real question about the Paul trade is how everyone fits on the floor together in Golden State now. You almost have to start the group of Paul, Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins, and Draymond Green. But with how effective Kevon Looney was rebounding the ball this postseason, is that a good outcome? We will find out.
Positives & Negatives
The biggest positive for the Warriors going into this season is that they still have most of the key pieces from their championship past. Steph Curry is still the best shooter in the NBA, while Draymond Green and Andrew Wiggins play their respective roles incredibly well. While the Warriors are deeply flawed, they are still a good team.
However, the Warriors are still deeply flawed, and that is a huge concern going into this season. Paul needs the ball to justify his existence on an NBA team at this point, but he could still really slow down this Warriors team in a negative way. Combine that with the clear step back that Looney is going to have to take, and it is hard to see this Warriors team being better than it has been over the last two seasons.
2023-24 Golden State Warriors Win Total Prediction: Under 48.5 Wins
There are also some fragility concerns with this Warriors team that I do not think are being discussed enough. Paul has missed some serious time over the last couple of years, while the Warriors have sat Curry, Thompson, and Green at times recently as well. This team could pull it all together for the playoffs, but they may not exceed the 44 wins they accumulated last season.
