Cleveland was pretty aggressive in the offseason, bringing in Max Strus to join their starting lineup and Georges Niang to bolster their bench. Cleveland will be without some familiar faces this year, as Kevin Love and Cedi Osman are no longer with the team. But one would have to consider their moves to be a slight upgrade from last year’s roster.
Positives & Negatives
Cleveland has a ton of positives to lean on going into the 2023-24 NBA season. Their defense is going to be elite again this year, while they have one of the best scorers in the league in Donovan Mitchell to get them through tough spots.
However, the Cavs sometimes lack the scoring help around Mitchell to get them wins in big games against other quality defensive teams. We saw that on full display against the Knicks in the first round of the playoffs. Someone will need to step up more consistently alongside Mitchell to help the Cavs become a true championship contender.
