Can Texas A&M Recover After Failing First Test?
The Texas A&M Aggies faced the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in their first game of the 2024 college football season. They failed that test at home, losing 23-13 to the Irish at Kyle Field. After beating FCS McNeese State last week, the Aggies will look to beat an FBS opponent for the first time this season when they take on Florida in The Swamp on Saturday afternoon.
Texas A&M's offense was horrible in their season opener against Notre Dame. The Aggies got just 100 passing yards out of Conner Weigman at quarterback, who had two interceptions and no passing touchdowns in that massive matchup. Now Weigman and the Aggies will hit the road for the first time this season, where a hostile environment could make things even tougher on an offense that has already had its share of problems to start the year.
Gators Also Looking For Redemption
The Florida Gators didn't fare any better in their first big test of the 2024 college football season. They were blown out by the Miami Hurricanes at home, with the defense of Florida struggling to stop Cam Ward and the Miami passing attack. While Florida beat FCS opponent Samford in their second game of the season, the Gators will have plenty of questions to answer in this game, their first conference game of the season.
If Florida has one thing going for it going into this game, it is the fact that Texas A&M's offense is nowhere near as good as that of Miami. Weigman is not even in the same league as Cam Ward in terms of quarterbacking quality, which should make it easier for the Gators to get stops against A&M in this matchup. But if Florida's offense doesn't also improve, they still may not be able to get into the win column against FBS competition this year when this game wraps up.
Texas A&M vs Florida Best Bet
Our best bet for Texas A&M vs Florida is not on a side. Instead, our best bet is for this game to stay under the total. There is very little reason to trust either of the offenses in this matchup and we will bank on the Gators and Aggies to do plenty defensively to keep this one under the number in what should be a slugfest in the SEC.
