Air Force picked up a win over an FCS opponent in its season opener as well, beating Merrimack by a score of 21-6. The Falcons only had 237 yards of total offense in that game, but they won the turnover battle by a margin of 3-0, which allowed them to create some separation with a 14-0 first half advantage. This week, Air Force will need to be better offensively in order to earn a second win in a row, as they host their conference opener against San Jose State.

Despite their being the Air Force, the Falcons once again will look to move the ball on the ground this season. They ran the ball 55 times against Merrimack compared to just 14 pass attempts. But they averaged just three yards per carry on those 55 rush attempts and will need to find a way to eat up larger chunks of yardage to avoid getting behind schedule against a more explosive opponent this week.
