Ole Miss Rebels: Will Chris Beard Like Us?
Ole Miss fired their head coach a few weeks back and now the current guys on the team are playing to impress their new coach. Rumors are swirling that former Texas head coach Chris Beard is the frontrunner for the job and that should excite Rebels fans.
The Rebels beat South Carolina to get to the second round and will hope to battle against Tennessee like they did in their 63-59 home loss in December.
Tennessee Volunteers: Can We Make the Second Weekend?
Tennessee ended their regular season with a 79-70 road loss at Auburn. This final score is not indicative as to how this game went, but the Tigers will not care as they all but wrapped up their trip to the NCAA Tournament. The Vols led by four at the half, but scored just eight points in the final six minutes in their third straight loss. Tennessee trailed by as many as nine points, led by seven, and could not cover the +2.0-point spread.
Santiago Vescovi had 21 points, five rebounds, and four assists in the game. Tyreke Key added 13 points, one rebound, and one assist off the bench.
After 31 games, Tennessee is scoring 71.9 points per game, shooting 43.5% from the field, and assisting on 17.1 made shots. The Volunteers are allowing 57.5 points, grabbing 32.3 rebounds, blocking 3.7 shots, and stealing the ball 8.5 times.
