The Washington Mystics were expected to be the best team in the WNBA behind the super teams in Las Vegas and New York. But in the early stages of the 2023 campaign, it has been the Chicago Sky that has gone unbeaten. On Friday, the Sky face their biggest test of the season so far against a Mystics team that will look to take advantage of a potential break in their early schedule. In our WNBA predictions for Friday, we take a closer look at Mystics vs Sky from Chicago.

Why Bet the Mystics:
✅ Washington is just 1-2 on the season so far, but they have played a brutal schedule, with their three games coming at home against the Liberty and a home and home against the Sun. Look for Washington to take advantage of the least talented opponent they have faced so far this season.
✅ Chicago, meanwhile, has benefited from a very soft schedule early on. They beat a Lynx team that is now 0-3 on the season, then beat a Mercury team that is 1-2, with their lone win coming against those same Lynx. The Sky will struggle with a tougher foe here on Friday night.

Washington Mystics
It has not been a great start for the Washington Mystics this season, as they have dropped two of their first three games. A difficult early season schedule has led to some frustration for the team, with Elena Delle Donne being fined for criticism of the league’s officiating during a physical two-game series against the Connecticut Sun. Now, the Mystics will look to put their 1-2 start behind them with a win over the Chicago Sky.
For Washington, the ability to pound the paint with Delle Donne and Shakira Austin should give them a significant advantage in this contest. Remember, this is a Sky team that lost Azura Stevens and Candace Parker in the offseason, and is without Isabelle Harrison and Ruthy Hebard on the interior early this year. Expect the bigs of Washington to feast against a Sky team lacking any real frontcourt depth behind Elizabeth Williams.
Chicago Sky
For the Chicago Sky, this season is off to a great start. They are 2-0 on the year, taking advantage of the winnable games they opened with against the Lynx and Mercury. But a game against the Mystics at home will go a long way in showing just what kind of staying power the Sky have as they look to prove that they can be a legitimate contender in the W.
Finding a consistent second scorer behind Kahleah Copper will be the big question mark for the Sky this season. Copper is leading the team with 17.5 points per game through two games, but this team will need to figure out who can help her carry the scoring load on a consistent basis.
