- The Mystics should have guard Brittney Sykes on the floor for the first time this season as she is listed as probable for this game.
- Washington nearly got its only win of the season at home against Atlanta earlier in the season and we expect another tight game here.
The Washington Mystics have had a nightmare start to their season, dropping each of their first 12 games. But they have some key reinforcements set to join them for Tuesday’s matchup with the Atlanta Dream, in which Washington will hope to pick up its first win of the 2024 WNBA season. In our WNBA betting picks for Tuesday night, we give you a closer look at Mystics vs Dream from Atlanta.
This game will be played at Gateway Center at 7:30 PM ET on Tuesday, June 11, 2024.
Washington Mystics
The Washington Mystics are 0-12 to start the 2024 WNBA season. Some key injuries have left them to rely on guards that are not great at scoring and bigs who are either past their prime or brand new to the league. But Washington could have a full team on Tuesday if things break their way, or at least more of one than they have been used to this year.
We know that Brittney Sykes is likely to play for the first time this season in this contest after dealing with an ankle injury to begin the year. That alone gives the Mystics more of a scoring punch from their guards, something they have sorely lacked. Meanwhile, Shakira Austin is questionable for this contest. If she is able to play, the Mystics could look different than their 0-12 record would suggest in this Mystics vs Dream matchup.
Atlanta Dream
So far this season, the Atlanta Dream hold a record of 5-4, which is good for fifth place in the WNBA standings. Atlanta has not been as consistent as you would like, with the league’s second-worst scoring offense holding them back a bit. But making the playoffs is the goal in the game of basketball and the Dream have themselves in a position to do that if they can sustain their current level of play and win games like this one.
For the Dream, getting more out of Rhyne Howard than they did in their last meeting with the Mystics will be essential. Howard went 2/11 from the field the last time they played Washington, in a game that was tied going into the fourth quarter. Howard doesn’t need to be great for Atlanta to win this game, but avoiding another shooting night like that will go a long way in helping the Dream to remain above the .500 mark after tonight is done.
