Aces vs Sun Game 3 Betting Pick
This game will be played at Mohegan Sun Arena at 9:00 PM ET on Thursday, September 15, 2022.
The Las Vegas Aces have taken a commanding 2-0 lead in the WNBA Finals after winning the first two games of the series on their home floor. Now, the Aces hit the road as the Sun have their backs against the wall for the rest of this series. In our WNBA betting picks for Thursday, we look at Aces vs Sun Game 3, in what could be the final game of the 2022 WNBA season.
Why Bet The Aces:
✅ The Las Vegas Aces have found a way to shut DeWanna Bonner down in this series. She is averaging 2.5 points per game in the 2022 WNBA Finals, and is shooting 11.1% from the floor. Unlike the Aces, the Sun do not have the scoring depth to overcome performances like that from one of their stars. Bonner’s struggles will again be costly, and the Aces will end the Sun’s season right here.
✅ On the flip side, the Aces’ duo of A’ja Wilson and Chelsea Gray have been too much for the Sun to deal with even if Bonner was shooting the ball well. They have averaged a combined 46 points per game in this series so far, as Gray continues one of the all-time great postseasons in the history of the WNBA and basketball in general. Expect that duo, and Kelsey Plum, to have big games here to close things out.

✅ Impressively, the Aces have managed to prevent the Sun from gaining a huge advantage on the glass in this series. Through two games, the Sun are outrebounding the Aces by just five total rebounds. Unless the Sun really ramp that advantage up in the third game of this series, this will be the final game that these two teams play until 2023.
Las Vegas Aces
After years of coming close without cashing in, the Las Vegas Aces are one game away from winning a WNBA championship. In Becky Hammon’s first year as the team’s head coach, Las Vegas has been the best team in the league for most of this season. But all of that is meaningless if the Aces cannot cash in and close this series out, which they will attempt to do on Thursday night.
While the offense of the Aces is what usually gets the accolades, their defense will be the key to their success in Game 3. Las Vegas has allowed just 67.5 points per game this series, as they have done a great job of clamping down on DeWanna Bonner especially. If the Aces can hold the Sun around 70 points once again here, they will have the inside track to closing things out with a sweep.
Connecticut Sun
The Connecticut Sun are just one game away from elimination in the WNBA Finals, as they dropped the first two games of this series in Las Vegas. So far, the Sun have done a more than respectable job defensively in this series, holding the Aces under 70 points in Game 1. But their offense has not been able to match that of Las Vegas in key moments, and that will need to change if the Sun are to avoid a sweep.
For Connecticut, the key to this game is going to be getting a big scoring performance from one of their stars. The Sun have not had a 20-point scorer in this series, which makes it hard to keep up with a team like the Aces that have been getting those games from Wilson and Gray regularly in the playoffs. Jonquel Jones, who has averaged a nice 15.5 points per game in this series, needs to do more than that to keep the Sun afloat.
