Five games on tap in the WNBA tonight and we’ll take a look at the game between the Dallas Wings (9-13) and the Chicago Sky (11-10).
Dallas at Chicago Betting Odds
The Sky is favored by 6 and the total on the game is 167
Dallas Wings
After a decent start to the season the Wings have cooled off a little bit, dropping their last four to fall 1.5 games out of the No. 8 spot in the standings. The Wings didn’t look too good against the Sun in their first game back after the break, falling behind 47-27 at the half and never getting themselves back into the game. Dallas actually shot the ball fairly well in the game, hitting 46.2% from the field and 43.8% from 3-point range, but 19 turnovers and only six free throw attempts kept their points down, as Dallas made the mistake of letting Connecticut dictate the pace and slow it down.
Arike Ogunbowale led Dallas with 20 points and is the team’s leading scorer on the season, with 19 points per game. The Wings have four players who average 11.5 points or more, Dallas is a decent 3-point shooting team, hitting 36.3% for the year and are usually pretty solid on the offensive boards, average 10.1 per game.
Chicago Sky
The Sky started slowly, but really picked it up once they had everybody back and healthy. Chicago did limp into the all-star break losing three of four, including a game against the Wings. Chicago won the first game 91-81 and Dallas bounced back with a 100-91 victory two nights later. Chicago did knock off Seattle in the first game back from the break, needing overtime to beat the Storm, who were without a couple of key players.
The Sky are a deep team and it has an impact on the stats, as Kahleah Cooper is the teams leading scorer with 14 points per game. Chicago does have seven other players who average at least 7.8 points per game, which gives them the ability to win even if one or two players have an off night.
Dallas at Chicago Pick
We came away with a win in the first game after the break to move to 28-16-1 for the season, although it was probably more due to luck than anything, getting the covering basket with .5 seconds remaining in the game. I have this game a little bit closer than the line, having Chicago winning 88-85, but will take the over 167 here, as we saw a couple of high-scoring games in Dallas and think the Wings try to push the tempo after last game. Chicago has been a bit better defensively on the road this season, so think we can get there at the end.
