- Both teams in this matchup are averaging under 80 points per game for the season.
- The offense of the Dream has been especially bad early in the season, ranking last in scoring average in the league.
Going into Tuesday night, the Chicago Sky and Atlanta Dream are both under the .500 mark so far this WNBA season. But they have a huge opportunity to get a win against each other tonight in Atlanta. Here, we make our WNBA predictions for Sky vs Dream, as both teams will aim to get back into the win column to try and help their eventual playoff hopes.
This game will be played at Gateway Center Arena at 7:00 PM ET on Tuesday, July 2, 2024.
Chicago Sky
The Chicago Sky have lost two straight games going into Tuesday night, sitting at 6-11 on the season so far. They are just outside of the top-eight in the standings this year, meaning they are on the outside looking in to this point in the playoff race. But they can get a huge win tonight if they can exploit the offensive issues of the Atlanta Dream.
One area where the Sky should have the advantage in this game is on the glass. The Dream don’t have a ton of size beyond Tina Charles and Cheyenne Parker-Tyus. That should mean production on the glass for Angel Reese, Kamilla Cardoso, and the rest of the frontcourt for Chicago. Ultimately, that could swing things in the favor of the Sky.
Atlanta Dream
The Atlanta Dream go into Tuesday’s Sky vs Dream contest with a record of 7-10. That is good for seventh in the WNBA standings, which would be good for a playoff spot. But the Dream had a nightmare month of June, with an injury to Rhyne Howard making it very difficult for them to get things going offensively. They will aim to change that to start their month of July tonight.
For Atlanta, simply finding offensive contributions from all five players on the floor is a challenge right now. Allisha Grey is still playing excellent basketball despite increased attention from opposing defenses in Howard’s absence. But she needs more help if this Dream squad is going to be able to win games like this one tonight or others in the future that could impact whether or not they make the postseason.
