Only two games in the WNBA tonight, so we’ll take a look at the Facebook game between the Atlanta Dream and the Minnesota Lynx..
Atlanta at Minnesota Betting Odds
The Minnesota Lynx are favored by 6.5 points at William Hill and the total on the game is 160.5. Minnesota is -245 on the moneyline.
Atlanta Dream
The Dream started the season the way most people expected, as they lost to Connecticut and Chicago at home, but since then have surprised plenty of people with a four-game winning streak to put them at 4-2 on the season. This is a team that won just seven games last season and were outscored by 6.6 points per game.
The Dream have a couple of solid scorers in Tiffany Hayes, Courtney Williams and Chennedy Carter. Those three are each averaging more than 15 points a game. There’s a big drop off to Monique Billings at No. 4, as she averages 7.2 points per game. What has helped the Dream during their winning streak is getting decent contributions from the bench and they’ll need that once again tonight.
Minnesota Lynx
The Lynx won their first game of the season last time on the court after starting 0-4 when they knocked off a pretty good Connecticut team in overtime 79-74. Sylvia Fowles had 24 points for the Lynx and Layshia Clarendon in her debut with Minnesota.
The game against the Sun was a defensive battle, but the Dream aren’t the Sun as it pertains to defense. The Dream are allowing 84.5 points per game and the Lynx are allowing 81.8. Minnesota has played a couple of strong defensive teams, which has kept their scoring average down a bit.
Atlanta Dream at Minnesota Lynx Pick
My numbers have this one 89-78 in favor of Minnesota, as they aren’t entirely sold on the Dream quite yet. The fact a 1-4 team is favored over a 4-2 team is a bit telling, but thinking we might see a few more points than are expected, so going to go ahead and take a stab on the over in this one.
