Kyrgios vs Garin Betting Pick
The Nick Kyrgios show has made it to the quarterfinals of Wimbledon. Despite battling a shoulder injury and fighting the ongoing battle within his own brain, Kyrgios has looked great heading into the round of eight. Here, he faces Cristian Garin, a surprise quarterfinalist who is enjoying his best showing on grass. In our tennis betting picks for Wednesday, we look at Kyrgios vs Garin, in a match that will decide one semifinalist at the All England Club.
Why Bet The Over:
✅ Nick Kyrgios is easily the better player on grass going into this matchup. But betting the under here means operating under the assumption that he will remain healthy throughout and remain calm throughout. Those are too many variables for my liking, and this match could end up going four or five sets.
✅ Garin and Kyrgios are both top-10 in this tournament in second serve points won. That will help Garin stay in this match, as Kyrgios’ first serve is so hard to return. While Kyrgios is the bigger hitter off the ground, he is susceptible to errors when he becomes disinterested in long rallies, and Garin should force plenty of those on second serves.

✅ Garin has proven that he is more than capable of fighting his way out of an early deficit, as evidenced by his last match against Alex De Minaur. Even if Kyrgios does pull ahead by virtue of being the superior player on grass, Garin should be able to sneak a set or two simply by staying engaged in the match.
Nick Kyrgios
Nick Kyrgios fell behind against Brandon Nakashima in the round of 16, dropping the first set. He responded by winning the next two sets and sealing up the match in the fifth set. Kyrgios dealt with a shoulder injury for long stretches of the match, and it will be interesting to see how his shoulder holds up in this match.
There is also a new distraction for Kyrgios in the form of an upcoming court appearance in Australia. Kyrgios was very reserved and limited his outbursts against Nakashima, but where his head will be at for this match is anyone’s guess. If he can keep himself in the moment, though, Kyrgios will be expected to set up a potential semifinal with Rafael Nadal.
Cristian Garin
Cristian Garin was not expected to get anywhere near the quarterfinals of Wimbledon. He does his best work on the clay courts of South America, but has fought admirably to get through some tough opponents here. Coming off of a five-set win over Alex De Minaur, Garin will have to feel like he has a chance in this match if he can simply make Kyrgios work hard.
The mental game is so important against a player like Kyrgios, and Garin might just have the right mentality to compete with him. Garin typically does not get caught up in emotions while on the court, and if he can ignore everything Kyrgios throws at him, he could frustrate the Australian. Whether or not that will be enough to help Garin make inroads on the Kyrgios serve remains to be seen, but that will be the blueprint for the Chilean.
