Golden State Warriors point guard Stephen Curry has dazzled another NBA icon, Scottie Pippen. Curry, dubbed “The Greatest Shooter of All-Time,” continues to astound fans with his play as Pippen compared Curry to Los Angeles star guard Lebron James and called him a “mini-LeBron.”
Many people admire the eight-time All-Star as his on-court ability contributed to the evolution of the game of basketball. Curry broke Ray Allen’s career 3-point record this season and he appears to be far from finished. He won his first Finals MVP award at 34 and earned his second scoring title in 2020-21.
“[Steph’s] a mini-LeBron…he’s strong for his size…he could probably play the game into his 50s if he wanted to”

“You take a guy like Steph, he’s a mini-LeBron to some degree,” Pippen commented on Sirius XM NBA radio.
He further explained, “From a physicality standpoint, he’s strong for his size. This guy could give us at least another six years easily. He’s a shooter, and he’s the greatest shooter we have ever seen. He could probably play the game into his 50s if he wanted to.”
“He could probably play the game into his 50s if he wanted to,” Pippen added.
Curry, the 6-foot-2 sharpshooter, and James, the overpowering 6-foot-9 superstar often regarded as the second-best player of all time. However, neither player appears to be slowing down. Curry, 34, is about to begin his 14th season in the NBA. Meanwhile, James, three years older than Curry, will start his 20th season.
“Obviously, he’s the greatest shooter that we’ve ever seen,” Pippen said of Curry. “His basketball IQ, his intelligence and what he’s been able to do for small guys in this game, it’s just amazing.”
The two-time league MVP Curry has amazed the crowds with his long-range shooting skills. Despite this, many overlook how he has taken care of himself physically so that he can still perform at an all-time high.
Many people were surprised that he had overcome the ankle and foot injuries he sustained in his first two seasons. Thus, Curry’s relentless pursuit of excellence has been well-recognized.
Curry’s Career
Curry didn’t attract much attention from other franchises when he first entered the NBA in 2009. On draft night, the Minnesota Timberwolves reportedly passed on him. Before the Warriors selected the sharpshooter, they drafted two-point guards with back-to-back picks.
Compared to what he went on to achieve, he had a rough start to his career. After a career season in 2012-13, Curry continued to shoot from long range. His shooting persisted as he broke record after record in front of him.
By 2022, he had racked up plenty of trophies and was at the top of the NBA scoring charts. Curry has won the MVP award twice and is the first player to earn it with a unanimous vote. Along with four champs, including a Finals MVP, an All-Star Game MVP, and a member of the NVA’s 75th Anniversary Team.
Pippen on Durant’s trade
Like everyone else in the NBA, Pippen is watching the Kevin Durant trade saga, which began when the superstar demanded a move from the Brooklyn Nets. Pippen couldn’t help but wonder where Curry’s legacy would be if Durant hadn’t spent three years in the Bay Area.
“If you take away the years KD came in and sort of stole the spotlight or shared it, or however you want to look at it, it would be amazing to know where Steph Curry would be had he not bow down and allowed KD to be the leader of that team.
“He’s a special player, and I enjoy watching him,” Pippen remarked.”
