Matthew Wolff is the latest addition of the string of players to leave the US PGA Tour for the LIV Golf Series, which is a golf circuit backed by Saudi Arabia. Wolff is said to have his move confirmed on Monday.
Reports stated that Wolff will be one of the players who is going to compete at Pumpkin Ridge in Oregon. Both the Golf Channel and ESPN reported that Wolff will depart and join LIV Golf for the upstart series. Its second event will be started on Thursday in Portland, Oregon.
There is a good possibility that he will join the ranks of the players who are currently suspended indefinitely by the US PGA Tour.

Wolff’s golfing career
The World Number 77 American won his only US PGA title at 2019 3M Open in suburban Minneapolis in his third tour. He was also the runner-up for the 2020 US Open and shared fourth in the 2020 PGA Championship. Each of these was awarded in his event debut. He was second at the 2020 US Open held at Winged Foot.
Additionally, he was a runner-up in Shriner’s Children’s Open in Las Vegas last October, sharing 40th on Sunday at the PGA Travelers Championship.
For the past two seasons, Wolff has struggled in his performance. In 2021, he took two months off to focus on his mental health. He returned at the US Open, which he tied for 15th. In the Official World Golf Ranking, he is the 74th.
Due to his unorthodox swing, he was one of the most popular young players on the PGA Tour, tied for 40th in the Travelers Championship in Cromwell, Connecticut. This might have been his last PGA Tour start since the commissioner Jay Monahan has suspended the members who left for the LIV Golf event.
The LIV chaos
Ever since the LIV series made its public appearance, the golf circle has been in disarray and some other golfers have expressed their concern about its effect on golf and future generations of golfers.
It is said that the circuit is only an attempt to push Saudi’s image through sport, in addition to it drawing criticism from various human rights groups. As a result, PGA Tour golfers moving to the LIV Golf is not seen in a positive light.
This series, which is supported by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, offers $25 million in prize money per 54-hole event with shotgun starts and without cuts.
US PGA Tour has 17 current and former members; each was listed when they played in England earlier this month in LIV Golf’s debut event. Some of the players included in this group are Phil Mickelson as well as past Masters winners Sergio Garcia and Dustin Johnson.
There are also reports that Eugenio Chacarra has signed to leave Oklahoma State for LIV Golf. He is slated to make his circuit debut at Pumpkin Ridge with Wolff. He said on Twitter that this was a chance that he could not pass on.
“It is an opportunity that passes once in a lifetime,” he wrote.
