Los Angeles Chargers cornerback JC Jackson has said that he could make more turnovers by partnering with Khalil Mack and Joey Bosa.
“I’ve never played with a pass rush like that,” Jackson said in a statement on Friday after the team’s training camp session. “I believe I can make more turnovers having those two guys going at the quarterback.”
Moreover, Jackson also attributed Mack and Bosa’s aggressive playing style to his confidence.
The Chargers acquired Jackson in the offseason trade from the New England Patriots and his five-year contract with the Chargers team is worth $82.5 million.
Jackson came into the team as a free agent. According to analysts at NBC Sports, he is among the best cornerbacks in the league.
The cornerback has received the title of the best in interceptions since 2018, recording a total of 25 interceptions until today. In the last NFL season, Jackson had defended 23 passes for the Patriots. Additionally, he got eight interceptions and a total of 58 tackles.
Analysts noted that the Chargers’ defense was not great last season and thus seemed to recruit Jackson to improve this line. The Chargers’ stats showed that they were 23rd in total defense and 29th in the total points allowed last season.
Mack is also a new addition to the team. He was traded away by the Chicago Bears in exchange for multiple draft picks. Like Jackson, the pass rusher is also considered to be one of the best in the NFL market. The four-time All-Pro recently returned from an injury that prevented him from joining more than seven games in the last season.
As for Bosa, the defensive end made his major league debut with the Chargers in 2016. He received the title of NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year in his debut year. Last season, Bosa recorded 7 FF, placing him second in the entire league.
Season preparation
The Chargers are conducting a training camp at Jack Hammett Sports Complex in Costa Mesa, CA, as part of their preparation.
Reports said that Jackson had adjusted well to his new team during the training camp. Mack and Bosa had also shown good chemistry when playing on the field together.
Bosa told reporters, “Me and Khalil, I feel like we’re definitely going to have a close bond by the end of this year. We kind of are together all practice, talking football the whole time.
“We have complementary styles, I think. We rush quite differently, so we can both learn a lot from each other. And, obviously, all the guys inside, it’s a big addition to add.”
Recently, they announced two important preseason schedules. The Chargers will be facing the Los Angeles Rams on August 13 and the Dallas Cowboys on August 20.
For the season opener on September 11, the Chargers are scheduled to face the Las Vegas Raiders who were number two in AFC West last season. The Raiders boast Davante Adams and Derek Carr on their roster.

The Chargers finished third last year in the AFC West with .529 PCT. They did not qualify for the last playoff after losing to the Raiders.
According to analysts, the Chargers’ new roster has a chance to bring the team’s stats up in the league.
