After injuring his leg in February 2021 in a car accident, Tiger Woods announced that he would temporarily retire. Woods returned to competitive golf after nine months.
Despite the injury, Woods made the cut in both his appearances in the Masters at Augusta Sports Club and the PGA Championship.
However, the legend was not on the course when other golfers set their sights on The Country Club at Brookline for the US Open.
The 46-year-old opted to stay home and rest his feet rather than take part in the competition. He is currently preparing for The Open at St. Andrews next month.

Father’s day
Woods reportedly spent Father’s Day watching his son, Charlie, play in a junior golf event. He was seen sitting alongside some young fans.
Woods was wearing a pair of black, sleeveless, golf shorts. A picture circulating online shows that his injured right leg looks different from his left leg. It has been reported that his right leg was a candidate for amputation.
His right leg is full of scars, with the inner calf appearing to be concave, while the lower portion of the leg, as a whole, seems to jut out unnaturally. There is also a wrap supporting his ankle.
The photo was posted by Leif Skodnick on his official Twitter account on June 19.
“Look at Tiger Woods’ right leg in this recent photo – incredible that he can play at all, much less competitively. @willbardwell @AlanShipnuck @firepitstories,” Skodnick captioned the photo.
Golf enthusiasts have since reacted to the picture. A Twitter user said that Woods’ right leg looked “gruesome”, while some fans said they wondered how Woods still managed to walk.
“Man. The fact he can still compete it wild,” one fan replied.
“I understand more of the rehab processes because of my past injuries, but this was more painful than anything I have ever experienced,” he said.
Woods said that he would not be able to play with the same intensity he had done in the past.
“I’m not going to play a full schedule ever again,” Woods said.
He also said he was not sure about playing on a professional tour, saying his body might not cooperate with the full schedule.
Will Woods win again?
Woods’ next course is The British Open which, will be the last major tournament of the 2022 season. The event begins next month at The Golf Course, St Andrews, Scotland, and features some of the biggest names in the sport.
However, his Father’s Day photo has raised doubts about his participation. The golf legend also underperformed at the 2022 PGA Championship at Southern Hills Country Club.
He shot a third round of nine-over-par, 79 on Saturday at the major championship event, including three bogeys, one triple bogey, and five pars on the opening nine holes.
As a result, Woods moved out in six-over-par, 41. He made four bogeys, one birdie, and four pars on the back nine to wrap up his round before retiring after the third round.
Somehow, he still managed to finish in a very respectable 47th place on his long-awaited return to competitive golf.
