Daniel Cormier is now retired, but according to reports, the former UFC double champ is mulling a comeback if the chance arises.
Before retiring, Cormier focused on defending his heavyweight title until he faced Miocic twice more in the main events of UFC 241: CORMIER vs MIOCIC 2 and UFC 252: MIOCIC vs CORMIER 3, both times losing.
Returns to light heavyweight title
Cormier revealed one possible scenario that could get him out of retirement during a Twitter Q&A with Monster Energy on Friday, which is a “shot” at the light heavyweight world title.
“I said this when I retired, I said I’m only going to fight for championship belts,” said Cormier.
“But it’s like, I don’t deserve a heavyweight championship fight. Stipe [Miocic] is not the champ. He beat me the last couple times. I don’t deserve a shot at the heavyweight title. If I was ever going to fight again — and which, I don’t want to — I would have to go all the way back to 205 pounds.”
Cormier hasn’t fought at 205 pounds since defeating Oezdemir in January 2018 at UFC 220. If the opportunity to reclaim one of his former titles ever arises, Cormier acknowledges that returning to light heavyweight may be the only fair path to pursue, if only because he never lost his 205-pound belt.
DC is set to make his WWE debut
Cormier, a UFC Hall of Famer, is also looking to launch his WWE career. The MMA titan even has made friends with Triple H and the Creed brothers.
“…One of my friends, Jacob Kasper, is now a part of the Creed brothers in the WWE. They are the NXT champions, right? So they’re the smaller league champions, and so I’ve been asked a couple of times to do something,” he noted.
“Do stuff with them for the promotion, but I haven’t been able to make it work, but it’s something that I really do want to do.”

He is the first fighter to defend titles with 20 wins and only three losses in his career in both light heavyweight and heavyweight divisions.
Cormier began his MMA career in his 30’s and won 12 straight fights in the heavyweight division, challenging the unbeaten Jon Jones.
DC did not defeat Jones in 2015, but he did put up a thrilling fight, earning him legendary status, especially after Jones’ title was revoked three days later after Jones did fail his pre-fight drug test.
DC is still participates in the sport even after retiring, and as a result of his precision in the sport, he is now a UFC commentator.
Cormier named UFC hall of fame
In May, the UFC announced that former Professional light heavyweight and heavyweight titleholder Cormier would be enlisted into the ‘Modern Wing’ of the UFC Hall of Fame as a member of the Class of 2022.
This achievement places DC in the company of Forrest Griffin (2013), BJ Penn (2015), Urijah Faber (2017), Ronda Rousey (2018), Michael Bisping (2019), Rashad Evans (2019), Georges St-Pierre (2020), and Khabib Nurmagomedov (2022).
