New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones was spotted back in practice on Wednesday, ahead of Sunday’s game against the Green Bay Packers in London.
Jones sprained his left ankle and was originally planned to be sidelined for this week’s game, but now it seems like Jones has made quite a progress on his recovery so that he could participate in the training session.
Giants head coach Brian Daboll encouraged Jones to comment on his injury treatment. Jones said that he felt good when he was on the field.
“Yeah, it felt good to get out there and then working with the trainers and, you know, I made a lot of progress last couple of days,” Jones said. “I’m confident in my ability to throw from a pocket, throw outside the pocket and make plays from both.”
According to Daboll, Jones is a tough player who spent a lot of time working with the trainers. The Giants will continue to monitor Jones’ injury on a daily basis. There is a possibility that Daboll will put Jones in the game.
“I’m just going to take it each day and see how he is,” Daboll said of the 25-year-old. “If he can practice and go out there and perform the things we need him to do, great. If he needs a day, he needs a day. I think it’s case-by-case with all those guys.
The team told reporters that Jones practiced in a limited capacity. He took one snap and rolled to his right. The former Duke QB moved well during practice, wearing a pair of high-top red shoes inside the bubble, which he also wore last year.
Among the QBs working out for the #Giants today is A.J. McCarron, sources say. He was with the #Bills in 2018, so there’s your Brian Daboll/Joe Schoen connection.

Giants center Jon Feliciano said after Wednesday’s practice that Jones seemed fine.
“The dude’s a competitor,” Feliciano said. “I don’t even see him limping. I made a crack at him when I saw him do a little drop-back and throw the ball: ‘Oh, you’re fine.'”
Jones completed 67-of-105 passes for 631 yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions in four games this season, while also rushing for 193 yards and two touchdowns. Although Saquon Barkley is the primary reason for the Giants’ offensive success, Jones also has an impact on the team’s ability to win.
Jones left Sunday’s 20-12 win over the Chicago Bears after receiving an ankle injury. He had an evaluation on his left ankle after the game and said that he was good. At first, he didn’t know that it was a high ankle sprain.
“I feel good. I feel good,” said Jones after the game. “A little sore but all good. Listen to the trainers and doctors and go from there, but feeling good.”
Tyrod Taylor injured with concussion
Other than Jones, Tyrod Taylor also suffered an injury. In the second half of the Giants’ game against the Bears on Sunday, Taylor was injured with a concussion. Jones then took his place during the last game. Taylor is currently undergoing concussion treatment.
Davis Webb would be the Giants’ third option. He’s never started an NFL game, but he did make one appearance against the Buffalo Bills. Still, the Giants want a backup quarterback to Webb.
“We’ll probably work out a few quarterbacks,” Daboll said Monday. “Whether we sign them or not, I think that’s dependent on some of these guys here.”
Giants feel optimistic about Jones
However, the Giants didn’t show any intention to sign any other QB. Daboll acknowledged that Jones had performed well. He considered Jones to be where he deserved to be.
“Obviously, he is performed numerous soccer. I consider him and the place he is at.” the head coach said. ”I simply suppose that we as a training group of workers have were given to do a excellent activity of observing him, comparing him, getting all the data we want to get to make the highest resolution for him and the staff as we will be able to.”
NFL.com’s Tom Pelissero said that the Giants were optimistic Jones would be able to go. The team will continue to monitor Jones’ progress. If Daboll gives a nod to Jones, he will play the game against the Packers.
