Capitals vs Panthers Betting Pick
This game will be played at the BB&T Center in Miami, Florida at 7:30 PM ET on Thursday, May 5, 2022.
Why Bet The Panthers:
✅ The Florida Panthers have the best home record in the NHL at 34-7-0. The loss against Washington on Monday coupled with a defeat against Tampa Bay on April 24 was the first time this team had lost back-to-back games at home in more than two months. Prior to the loss in Game 1, the Panthers had defeated Washington in both games in Florida this season.
✅ The Florida Panthers were held to two goals in the loss against Washington on Tuesday, but this was the top-ranked team offensively in the NHL the season, averaging 4.08 goals per game. That was 0.78 more goals per game on average than what Washington produced.

✅ The Washington Capitals earned a big victory in Game 1, but this was a team that closed out the regular season with four straight losses. In fact, they had closed the regular season with losses in six of the seven games against teams with a winning record. The only exception and that streak was a 3-2 victory over Colorado on April 18.
Washington Capitals
The Washington Capitals (44-26-12; 42-40 ATS) shocked Florida in the opening contest of their series, winning 4-2. Florida held a 2-1 lead in this contest, but three third-period goals by the Capitals gave the club the victory. Washington had been an exceptional team on the road this season, going 25-10-6, the top road record in the NHL.
Four different players scored goals for Washington in the victory as the club was 1-3 on the power-play. That is good news for the Capitals, who finished 23rd with the man advantage during the regular season at 18.8% T.J. Oshie had a pedestrian 25 points in 44 games but scored the goal that put his team on top. Should his line generate consistent offense, Florida will be in trouble.
Florida Panthers
The Florida Panthers (58-18-6; 42-40 ATS) jumped out to a 2-1 lead less than a minute into the second period, but could not generate any additional offense against Vitek Vanecek. This is the best offensive team in the NHL, but they have now been held to two goals in three of their last four games, all losses.
While the lack of offensive production is a concern, the performance of Sergei Bobrovsky must be equally so. He stopped 34 of 37 shots, but this team needs him to come up bigger after posting a 2.67 GAA and a .913 save percentage during the regular season. Florida was solid defensively this year, allowing 2.96 goals per game, 13th overall.
