Money Line: St. Louis+145/Boston-165
Puck Line: St. Louis-180/Boston+160
The Boston Bruins managed to go into St. Louis and beat the Blues 5-1 in Game 6 to force a decisive Game 7 tonight back home in Boston. It was a solid game throughout, but the Bruins pulled away in the third period after a 1-0 lead after the second intermission. Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask had yet another great game in net, stopping 28 of 29 shots.
The Blues were in last place at the start of the 2019 calendar year and now are one win away from winning it all. This will be the 17th time the Finals have gone to a Game 7, and the home team has won 12 of them. The last team to win a Finals Game 7 was the Bruins back in 2011.
The Blues may have blown their best opportunity to win the title, losing Game 6 at home. The Blues have been struggling on power plays (1-18 this series). Rask has been excellent for the Bruins this postseason (1.93 GAA .938 SV%). In the finals, Rask has only allowed 12 goals in the six games, while the Bruins have scored 21. Rask has allowed two goals or less in regulation in five of those six games.
If the Blues are going to win this game they are going to need Jaden Schwartz, their leading playoff goal-scorer, to find the net. He is scoreless in this series. Vladimir Tarasenko has been held without a point in the last two games as well. On the other side, the Bruins top line is starting to play better.
This is the first Stanley Cup Finals Game 7 to be played in Boston. The crowd is going to be electric and the Bruins have all the momentum after picking up the Game 6 win. The Blues have done well to turn their season around and force a Game 7, but the Bruins are the better team. Rask will have another great game in net and solidify his Conn Smythe chances while the city of Boston picks up another championship tonight. That will make them the current champions in three of the four major sports.
