St. Louis Blues vs Boston Bruins Game 2
Money Line: St. Louis+150/Boston-165
Puck Line: St. Louis-182/Boston+157
The Boston Bruins won the first game of the Stanley Cup Final by a score of 4-2 over the St. Louis Blues. St. Louis scored the first two goals of the game and looked to be in control. Boston then responded by scoring four-straight including an empty net goal in the final minutes to seal the Game 1 victory.
One of the best moments of the game for Bruins fans, aside from the victory, was the hit that Torey Krug put on Blues center Robert Thomas. Helmetless, Krug flew down the ice about ten minutes into the third period and unleashed one of the biggest hits you’ll ever see, knocking Thomas off of his skates as he flew right through him.
Tuukka Rask gave up two early goals in the first 21 minutes of the game. After that, he was flawless. Although, he didn’t have much work to do, as the Blues only got 12 shots on goal between the second and third period. Boston had five power plays in Game 1 to just two for the Blues. The Bruins managed to get one goal on their power play while the Blues came up empty on both of theirs.
As if losing Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final isn’t bad enough, losing after leading 2-0 hurts even more. Add in the momentum of Krug’s hit on Thomas, and the Bruins are certainly in control right now. At home for Game 2 and on their best win streak of the season, the Bruins have to love where they are sitting right now. The Blues will have a difficult time trying to pick up a win tonight in Boston.
Blues Goalie Jordan Binnington is 5-2 following a loss this postseason, but the Bruins just look too good right now. The Blues offense was severly stagnant after the first period. They will need to play a lot better to give Binnington a chance at a win in net. Rask and the Bruins defense will be tough for the Blue’s to figure out. I look for Boston to pick up a Game 2 win in a lower scoring game this time around.
