San Jose Sharks vs St. Louis Blues Game 3 (Tied 1-1)
Money Line: San Jose+123/St. Louis-143
Puck Line: San Jose-220/St. Louis+184
The St. Louis Blues did their job and stole at least one game from the Sharks in San Jose by winning Game 2 4-2. Now St. Louis heads home with a tied series and home-ice advantage, putting the pressure on the Sharks, for now.
Logan Couture of the Sharks had another great game, scoring two goals within two minutes of each other, but San Jose couldn’t find any other offense. Couture now leads the NHL with 13 goals this postseason. Couture managed to tie that game at two goals apiece in the second period, but the Blues answered back before the second intermission to take a 3-2 lead into the third period. The Blues got the insurance goal with just over three minutes remaining in the game to seal the victory.
The Sharks have won the first game of each series so far this postseason and in convincing fashion. They then followed up each Game 1 victory with a loss to even up the series. This may be nothing new to the Sharks, but the Blues are a better hockey team than the Sharks previous two opponents (Vegas Golden Knights and Colorado Avalanche). San Jose needed seven games to win each of their first two series and this series may be headed for seven games as well.
St. Louis is 1-26 on power plays in the last eight games. If the Blues can get their power play together and start scoring when they have a man advantage, San Jose will be in trouble throughout the rest of this series. St. Louis has been getting the most out of Jaden Schwartz this postseason. Schwarts has nine postseason goals after scoring only eleven throughout the entire regular season.
St. Louis seems to be the better of the two teams. Being back at home with the series tied and the momentum, I think the Blues take Game 3 and the series lead. The Blues defense came up big in Game 2 and even helped provide some offense. I think we see the same thing again today and Jordan Binnington has a great game in net for the Blues.
