The NHL betting picks continue for another day at ATS with TNT’s Wednesday Night Hockey matchup between the Washington Capitals and Philadelphia Flyers. Flyers vs Capitals is one of 15 games on tap on Wednesday, with the league getting in all the games possible before an off day for Thanksgiving.
Both the Capitals and Flyers are struggling at the moment, with Philly losing seven straight and the Capitals having lost eight of their last ten. Something has to give on Wednesday night as one of these two slumping teams has to take home the two points.
Oddsmakers have the Capitals as hefty -235 moneyline favorites and the Flyers priced at +195. The total for the Flyers v Caps is set at six goals.

Why Bet On The Over:
✅ Philadelphia’s defense is leaking goals, allowing 3.21 goals per game. Outside of Ivan Provorov, the Flyers are lacking high quality talent on the blueline.
✅ Washington’s defense has been just as bad as the Flyers, allowing 3.25 goals per game. The Capitals defense has been even worse of late, allowing 20 goals over the last four contests.
✅ Four of the Capitals last five games have seen six or more goals scored.

Philadelphia Flyers
The early season honeymoon under head coach John Tortorella is fully over as the Flyers surprising hot start gave way to a current seven game losing streak. Philadelphia hasn’t won a game since November 8 and can’t keep pucks out of their net, a reality that has to be driving the defensive minded Tortorella crazy.
Injuries haven’t helped the Flyers as they are without several veteran names for a considerable period. Ryan Ellis is out for the year with a pelvis injury, James van Riemsdyk is out until December and Travis Konecny is out until early December as well.
Without a handful of key players, the Flyers have struggled to put the puck in the back of the net. Lacking depth, Philadelphia has scored just 15 goals during their seven game losing streak. The hope is a matchup against the Capitals struggling defense will warm up an offense that is in desperate need of a boost.
Washington Capitals
The Capitals are in need of scoring support from their role players if they want to turn their season around. Alexander Ovechkin, Evgeny Kuznetsov, and Dylan Strome have scored 16 goals and 30 assists but the bottom two lines haven’t contributed much. Due to the lack of role player support, the Caps are averaging just 2.75 goals per game despite having one of the greatest goalscorers of all-time leading the charge.
Making matters worse, the Capitals team is built to our score opponents and it is showing up in their mediocre defensive numbers. Washington has allowed 3.25 goals per game this season and without the offensive production on the other end, it is easy to see why the Caps have a losing record.
Darcy Kuemper remains solid in goal in his first season in Washington, holding a .907 save percentage and a 2.83 goals against average.
