Boston Bruins vs Columbus Blue Jackets Game 4 (CBJ Leads 2-1)

Money Line: Boston+111/Columbus-131

Puck Line: Boston-240/Columbus+199

O/U: 5.5

Columbus took the 2-1 series lead with a 2-1 win in Game 3. Boston had the advantage on the faceoffs and the shots on goal, but Columbus was the more physical team with 53 hits to Boston’s 30. However, the biggest factor in Game 3 was the play of Blue Jackets goalie Sergei Bobrovsky. Bobrovsky, who saved 36 of 37 shots and how he saved some of those shots was the most impressive part. After winning Game 1, Boston has dropped two straight and now is in panic mode in Columbus. While it isn’t quite a must-win just yet, a Bruins loss tonight would put Columbus in the driver’s seat. Boston will need to find a way to score on Bobrovsky and if he plays as he did in Game 3 the Bruins can just “forgetta ‘bout it”. Riding the home crowd and their tremendous goalie play, I think the Blue Jackets do take the 3-1 series lead today and put Boston and their fans on the verge of elimination.

San Jose Sharks vs Colorado Avalanche Game 4 (SJ Leads 2-1)

Money Line: San Jose+110/Colorado-130

Puck Line: San Jose-240/Columbus+199

O/U: 6

After climbing back from a 2-0 deficit in Game 3, the Avalanche saw their comeback quickly shut down after the Sharks took the 3-2 lead a minute after the Avs tied it up in the third period. An empty-net goal in the final minute put the game away for good. Like every other game in this series, it has been a tale of two different Colorado teams. San Jose commanded the first period of Game 3 and the Avs controlled the next 34 minutes of the game before the Sharks took the final six minutes. Colorado has yet to put together a complete game but has shown that their speed is certainly capable of taking down the Sharks, they just need to put it together for a full 60 minutes, because 30 minutes isn’t going to cut it. This is a must-win for Colorado on their home ice. Having the elevation advantage in the Mile High City is something the Avalanche can’t afford to waste. It became obvious at times that Brent Burns and the other Sharks defensemen were becoming fatigued late in the game, and the elevation certainly had a part in that. Against a goalie as inconsistent as Martin Jones, the Avs need to start taking advantage of the opportunities they have been missing out on. Look for the Avs to put together a more complete game in this one and take it to Jones and the Sharks defense with their speed.
