Rangers vs Hurricanes Betting Pick
This game will be played at PNC Arena at 7:00 PM ET on Thursday, May 26, 2022.
Why Bet The Rangers:
✅ Carolina is undefeated on the home ice in the 2022 Stanley Cup. Through their six postseason appearances at PNC Arena, the Hurricanes have outscored their opponents 22-7. Carolina’s last home defeat came on April 14, and the Canes have gone 8-0 since then.
✅ The Hurricanes are without their first-choice goalie, as Frederik Andersen is still recovering from a lower-body injury. Still, Antti Raanta has done a superb job so far this postseason, posting a 5-4 record to go with a 2.09 GAA and .931 save percentage. The 33-year-old netminder has allowed only one goal on 49 shots through the first two contests of the Rangers series.
✅ The Canes have scored only six goals over the previous four games. That will have to change sooner rather than later, and Thursday’s showing at home is a perfect opportunity for the Hurricanes to get things going. Look after Sebastian Aho, who has accounted for a couple of goals and assists throughout this series. Teuvo Teravainen found the back of the net last Tuesday to snap his three-game goalless streak, while defenseman Tony DeAngelo and Jaccob Slavin are searching for their first point of the series after combining for three goals and 13 assists in the first round.
New York Rangers
After dropping the first two games in Raleigh, 2-1 in overtime and 2-0, the Rangers tied the series with a couple of home victories, 3-1 and 4-1. Mika Zibanejad led the way with one goal and an assist in Game 3, and the 29-year-old center found the back of the net in Game 4 once more.
The Rangers were outshot 31-28 last Tuesday, but Igor Shesterkin had another good day in the crease. Shesterkin improved to 6-4 with a 2.77 GAA and .925 save percentage in the postseason, and he’s allowed only five goals on 122 shots in the conference semis (.959 SV%).
The Canes outshot the Rangers 44-33 in a 3-1 defeat in Game 3. Carolina outshot New York once more in Game 4, but the Canes also had 27 penalty minutes, allowing the Rangers to score once on four power-play opportunities.
The Hurricanes have gone 5-for-5 with the man down in the first two games at home. They owned the best penalty-killing percentage in the NHL in 2021-22 (88.04).
