Atlantic Division Contenders
There are three top contenders to win the Atlantic Division in the NHL this season. The two favorites are the Florida Panthers and Toronto Maple Leafs. Florida has won the Eastern Conference two years in a row and is understandably among the favorites in the division. Meanwhile, the Maple Leafs are right there with the Panthers in the standings to this point in the year, as the Leafs have dominated their opponents at home North of the border throughout the season.
Just behind the Panthers and Leafs in the Atlantic Division title odds are the Tampa Bay Lightning. The Lightning has some catching up to do if they want to find a way to win the Atlantic, as the Panthers and Leafs have been better thus far. But Tampa does have a better goal differential than either of those teams and they aren’t out of contention just yet.
2024-25 Atlantic Division Longshots
Every other team in the Atlantic Division has odds of over +3000 to win the division title, if they are still on the board. The Boston Bruins, Detroit Red Wings, and Ottawa Senators could all go on a run and swipe this division title from the top-four teams listed above. But a lot would have to go right for that to happen and for the favorites to fail to get their hands on the top spot in what should be a highly entertaining division all year long.
Boston has been a disappointment this season, as their run of dominant play could be ending in the Atlantic. The Bruins had a historically successful last couple of seasons but they are well behind the top-three in this division and are running out of time to do something about that in the second half of the campaign.
