Key Additions: Kyzir White, Paris Johnson Jr.
Key Departures: Zach Allen, Byron Murphy
The biggest move for the Cardinals in the offseason had nothing to do with their players. Instead, they got rid of Kliff Kingsbury, replacing him with former Eagles defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon. Kingsbury was not a good coach by any means, but replacing him with someone who has never been an NFL head coach may not work out either. But it will be interesting to see how the change in coaching philosophy will impact this team.

Kyler Murray needs to be better if the Arizona Cardinals want to be a more respectable squad offensively. This team finished dead last in yards per pass attempt as a team in 2022, with Murray’s 6.1 yards per attempt ranking behind quarterbacks such as Anthony Brown of the Ravens, John Wolford of the Rams, and Desmond Ridder of the Falcons. Needless to say, that is not what the Cardinals drafted Murray first overall to do.

On defense, the Cardinals were not particularly bad in terms of their per-play yardage numbers. But they were the second worst scoring defense in the league, as the struggles of their offense gave the defense more time on the field and poor field position to work with. But the Cardinals need to be better against the run to help their cause defensively this year.
Positives & Negatives
The positives are few and far between for the Cardinals going into 2023, but the fact that they ripped the proverbial band-aid off by ridding themselves of Kingsbury is a big plus. Now this franchise can attempt to put something better together with a coach who at least has a chance to be good, even if it does not end up working out in the end.
On the negative side, where to begin with the Cardinals? Their quarterback has shown more development racking up XP on Call of Duty than on the football field. They no longer have DeAndre Hopkins for him to rely on. And this defense was one of the worst in the NFL, with no major changes to make them any better. Those are all significant problems to try and fix.
2023 Arizona Cardinals Pick & Prediction: Under 4.5 Wins
Going into this year, the Arizona Cardinals could end up being one of the worst teams in the NFL. They have so many holes in their roster, and it isn’t clear that Kyler Murray is going to return to the form he showed before injuries derailed him and his team a couple of seasons ago. Four or fewer wins is well within the realm of possibility in Glendale.
