This NBA season, every team will look to win its conference and represent it in the NBA Finals. While one conference has a couple of clear favorites and the other appears to be wide open, both races have the potential to be competitive. Here, we look at the NBA conference championship odds for both conferences and look at which teams have the best chances to come out on top of them.

Looking at the latest NBA championship odds, the Boston Celtics are the favorites to win the NBA Finals after cruising to the title during the 2023-24 season. Boston has an elite duo in Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, but their role players have been what has set them apart. Still, the Celtics have some competition to beat out if they are going to get back to the NBA Finals.
The Milwaukee Bucks, New York Knicks, and Cleveland Cavaliers are the toughest of that competition for the Celtics. All three of those teams were decimated by injuries in last year’s postseason. But the top-end talent on all three squads can rival that of the Celtics when everyone is healthy and playing their best basketball.
At slightly longer odds, there are a couple of interesting teams in Eastern Conference futures markets. The Miami Heat and Orlando Magic both have a lot to like about them as this season rolls on. Miami has the postseason experience needed to hang with the best teams in the league, while the Magic are great defensively and are building something special with their young core of talent.

In the Western Conference last season, the Dallas Mavericks came out on top and lost to the Boston Celtics in the NBA Finals. Trading for PJ Washington and Daniel Gafford at the deadline last season helped the Mavs in a big way on the defensive end of the floor, helping Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving focus on scoring. Dallas is no longer among the favorites in the West this season after trading Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers.
Along with the Lakers, the other favorites to win the West are the Denver Nuggets and Oklahoma City Thunder. Denver has already proven it can win not just the Western Conference, but the NBA Finals as well, doing so a couple of seasons ago. Meanwhile, the Thunder are young but have proven themselves a season ago as a team that can make a substantial leap forward into the title picture.
At longer odds, the veteran-led teams in the Western Conference could be worth pursuing in futures markets. The Grizzlies, Warriors, and Clippers all have the star power to do great things in the Western Conference playoffs. But the question is whether or not their aging stars can hold up against all of the young stars that have taken over the league over the last couple of years.
