The Washington Mystics and Minnesota Lynx will play their second game of the 2022 WNBA season on Sunday night. After the Mystics won and the Lynx lost on Friday, Minnesota will look to take advantage of their first home game of the season to avoid falling into an 0-2 hole. But they will have to slow down a returning Elena Delle Donne to do so. In our WNBA picks for Sunday, we break down Mystics vs Lynx in an exciting inter-conference matchup.

Mystics vs Lynx Betting Pick
This game will be played at Target Center at 8:00 PM ET on Sunday, May 8, 2022.
Why Bet The Mystics:
✅ The Minnesota Lynx are deficient at the forward spots right now, with Damiris Dantas and Napheesa Collier both out. Angel McCoughtry is expected to make her Lynx debut tonight, but will be working her way back after an extended absence last season. Against Elena Delle Donne, the Lynx have a distinct matchup disadvantage here.
✅ Three-point shooting was an issue for both teams to start the season, with both teams making just four three-pointers in their respective openers. But the Mystics’ three-point shooting seems more repairable over the long run. They should get a little more perimeter production from Delle Donne as well as Natasha Cloud in their second game of the season.

✅ Washington should have more success getting to the free throw line than Minnesota, as we saw in their respective season openers. The Mystics shot 20 free throws in their first game, while the Lynx shot just 11. Washington has more dangerous players in terms of attacking the rim, and should set up some confrontations with Sylvia Fowles, even if the disparity may not be as big as we saw in Game 1 due to the quality of each team’s opponents.
Washington Mystics
The Washington Mystics started their season with a double-digit win at home against an Indiana Fever team that is expected to be the worst in the WNBA this year. More important than the result or the opponent, though, was the return of Elena Delle Donne. Delle Donne missed nearly all of last season due to a back injury, but was in the starting lineup and contributed a game-high 21 points for the Mystics to help them start the season with a win.
In this game, Delle Donne will be the key to the success of the Mystics, as the current Lynx roster may not be equipped to slow her down. But the Mystics will hope that they achieve the same balance that they got in their first contest, as four starters scored in double figures for the Mystics against Indiana. The one starter who did not reach double digits scored nine points, and Washington will hope that their starting unit can all contribute once again.
Minnesota Lynx
In their season opener, the Minnesota Lynx got off to a decent start against the Seattle Storm. But the Storm crushed the Lynx in the second half to win the game by double figures and send the Lynx to an 0-1 start. At home, the Lynx are favored to win this game and move to 1-1 on the season, but they will need to lock in defensively against a dangerous Mystics team.
The Lynx will also need to do a better job of helping Sylvia Fowles on the offensive end of the floor. Fowles led the Lynx with 16 points on 8/14 shooting in their season opening game. But players like Aerial Powers and Odyssey Sims have to do more alongside her if the Lynx are going to move back to .500 on the season.
