A full slate of five games in the WNBA today, which will be the final game until August, as the league will shutdown for the Olympic break. We’ll look at one of the later games, as the Phoenix Mercury (9-9) travel to Seattle to face the league-leading Seattle Storm (15-5).
Phoenix at Seattle Betting Odds
The Storm are favored by 8 and the total on the game is 163.5. Seattle is -420 on the moneyline.
The Mercury have been playing a little better lately, having knocked off Las Vegas on the road and then pulled off the upset against Seattle on Friday to get back to .500 on the season, which is still a disappointment for the talent on the team.
Phoenix did miss Diana Turasi for 11 games and it took her a few games to get back in the swing of things, but the team is finally playing the way they’re capable of right now. Still, going into Seattle against a revenge-minded Storm team isn’t a pleasant task.
The Storm are 15-5 on the season, but have gone 3-3 in their last six games after the loss to Phoenix on Friday. Seattle has played a little better on the road than they have at home this season, although this is a game they’ll likely be motivated for.
The Storm’s ‘Big 3’ can match the Big 3 of Phoenix and Seattle has a better supporting cast.
Phoenix at Seattle Pick
Even though it’s a revenge game for Seattle, the line is a bit too high and will go ahead and take Phoenix +8 in this one. It was 8.5 when I started writing, but another game where we’ve lost a bit of value. A lot of these players will be teammates starting tomorrow, playing on the U.S. Women’s National team, so a bit of bragging rights will be on the line, and think this one is relatively close, as I have it 85-82.
