Game 3 of the WNBA Finals take place today, with the series moving back to Chicago after the Mercury evened the series at 1-1 on Wednesday with a 91-86 overtime victory.
Phoenix Mercury at Chicago Sky Betting Odds
Caesars Sportsbook has the Sky favored by 3 and the total on the game is 167.
Phoenix Mercury
The Mercury came up big down the stretch of Game 2, overcoming a fourth-quarter deficit and then taking the victory in overtime. Phoenix had a big game from Brittney Griner, who scored 29 points and grabbed 9 rebounds, while Diana Turasi added 20 points and Skylar Diggins-Smith added 13. Shey Peddy had 10 points and two other players scored eight and nine points.

When the Mercury get decent contributions from other players besides Griner, Turasi and Diggins-Smith, they’re tough to defend. You know those three are going to score the bulk of points for the Mercury, so teams try and keep the other players from getting into the swing, which is a little easier for Chicago with the loss of Kia Nurse, but the Mercury have played well without her.
Chicago Sky
The Sky missed a golden opportunity to take a 2-0 series lead last time out, but move back to Chicago with things all knotted up. The Sky have shot well from the field in both games, but only got to the foul line four times last game. That may have had a little bit to do with the Mercury getting the benefit of a few calls, although Phoenix only attempted 11 free throws and some of those were due to deliberate fouls.
Chicago had four players in double digits last game, with Courtney Vandersloot leading the way with 20 and Allie Quigley scored 19, but was just 7 of 20 from the field and 3 for 12 on 3-pointers.
Phoenix at Chicago Pick
A tough loss with the under 168.5 last game, as the teams were tied at 79-79 at the end of regulation before the overtime session pushed the game over the total. A case of being right with your prediction, but still winding up with a losing bet. The strange thing about both of these teams is that played better on the road than they did at home for the year. I have the Mercury winning 88-82, so will take Phoenix +3 in this one.
