There are four games in the WNBA today, with several games a little hard to predict due to player status and the difficulty of getting accurate injury reports. We’ll go ahead and take a look at the game between the New York Liberty (11-16) and the Minnesota Lynx (15-9).
New York at Minnesota Betting Odds
The Lynx opened as 9-point favorites and the line held steady, while the total has climbed from 162 to 164.
New York Liberty
The Liberty are still clinging to the No. 8 spot in the standings despite losing their last four games. They’re battling with Dallas, Washington and Los Angeles for the final two playoff spots. The Liberty are 6-9 at home and 5-7 on the road this season.
Natasha Howard has played well for New York and her missing so much time has definitely hurt the team, as she’s No. 2 in scoring and No. 1 in rebounds. Betnijah Laney has been the team’s leading scorer all season long and the Liberty have several other players averaging double digits in scoring. New York can shoot the 3-pointer pretty well, averaging 36.5% for the season, which is No. 4 in the league. The Liberty shoot just 42.6% from the field, which is No. 8.
Minnesota Lynx
The Lynx are rolling along right now, having won eight of their last 10 games, including a game against the Liberty, breaking open a close game entering the fourth quarter to take a 10-point win. The Liberty won the first meeting between the two teams in New York.
Sylvia Fowles is leading Minnesota in scoring and rebounding and she and Howard put on a show last game, with Howard scoring 30 and Fowles scoring 20. Howard was 13 for 22 and Fowles was 9 of 10. Neither team really did anything out of character in that game, so the game was pretty indicative of the difference between the two teams.

New York at Minnesota Pick
Have dropped the last two games here, as playing every day there are games scheduled takes a toll every once in a while, as it did on Sunday. This is actually a pretty tough slate today, but will go ahead and take the Lynx -9, as I have them winning 85-73. Losing the first game and trailing by 1 entering the fourth quarter last time out against the Liberty will hopefully have them focused for this one.
