Just a single game in the WNBA for Monday, although it’s surprisingly looking to be a pretty good one, as the Dallas Wings (1-1) visit the New York Liberty (4-1).
Dallas at New York Betting Odds
New York is favored by 1.5 with a total of 167.5. New York is -120 on the moneyline, with Dallas being even.
Dallas Wings
The Wings have split their first two games of the season, taking to the road and beating the Los Angeles Sparks and then dropping an overtime decision to the defending WNBA champions, the Seattle Storm at home. Dallas has scored more than 93 points in each of their first two games, something you don’t see happen too often in the WNBA, even though they needed overtime to get there last time out.
Dallas’ Marina Mabry had a nice game against Los Angeles, which got her bumped into the starting line-up and she responded with 26 points against the Storm. Arike Ogunbowale led the team with 28 points against Seattle.
New York Liberty
The Liberty are a surprising 4-1 this season, which gives them twice as many wins as they had all of last season. Still not entirely sold on the Liberty yet, but you can’t knock what they’ve done so far. New York had five players in double-digits against Chicago on Sunday and the team shot 50% from 3-point range. They also allowed 50% shooting from 3-point range, but New York attempted 28 3-pointers compared to just 12 for Chicago.
The Liberty overcame 22 turnovers to get the win Sunday, which isn’t something you can count on each game.
Dallas Wings at New York Liberty Pick
A tough game from a handicapping perspective, as I have New York winning 83-82, so pretty close to the line and the total. Going to take a stab on Dallas +1.5 in this one, as home favorites who won the previous day as an away underdog are just 2-7 ATS over the years. Dallas has held both opponents to 28% of less from 3-point range and if they can limit New York’s outside scoring, have a good chance to come away with the win.
