- The Sun have a huge depth advantage over the Fever, who rely way too heavily on their starters to create offense.
- The physical defense of the Sun will make things tough for the duo of Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston and drop Indiana to 0-4 on the season.
On the first night of the 2024 WNBA season, the Connecticut Sun demolished the Indiana Fever in the fourth quarter to spoil Caitlin Clark’s pro debut. Tonight, the two teams will meet again, as the Fever look to get their first win of the season while the Sun look to stay perfect early in the year. Here, you will find our WNBA betting picks for Sun vs Fever in the second meeting between these teams of the season thus far.
This game will be played at 7:00 PM ET at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Monday, May 20, 2024.
Connecticut Sun
Things could not have gone much better to start the WNBA season for the Connecticut Sun. They beat the Fever by double-digits to open their campaign before pulling away from the Washington Mystics in the fourth quarter of their second game on the season. Now, the Sun hit the road for the first time this year to try and move to 3-0 with another win over Indiana.
In this Sun vs Fever contest, the physicality and depth of the Sun will once again be keys against the Fever. The Sun have some bench talent who can score, such as Rachel Banham, while they also have several frontcourt players capable of disrupting Aliyah Boston in the paint. Those two things combined give the Sun a significant advantage in this game, on top of the advantages they already get from having players like DeWanna Bonner and Alyssa Thomas running the show.
Indiana Fever
All of the hype surrounding the Indiana Fever has not yet translated into wins during the 2024 WNBA season. The Fever are 0-3 after losing once to the Sun and twice to the New York Liberty to open their campaign. And while the strength of schedule has been just brutal for the Fever to open this season, there are some major concerns that the Fever need to address if they are going to turn their season around in the weeks to come.
The biggest issue for this Fever team is depth, as they are clearly scrambling to try and find a rotation that works for them. They went with just eight players for the most part against the New York Liberty on Saturday, struggling to get any bench production along the way. That will be a problem against a Connecticut team whose second unit can score and cause problems for opponents along with their starters.
