Chicago Sky
The Sky were lights out from the field in Game 1, shooting 52.9%, with the team’s big players doing a lot of the damage. Chicago’s starting forwards and center went a combined 18 for 30, while Stephanie Dolson was 6 for 8 from the field.

Chicago’s biggest strength is its depth and that was evident in Game 1, as six players scored in double figures and four players had five or more rebounds. Chicago held its own in offensive rebounds, grabbing 10 while allowing 11, and also winning the turnover battle, with 15 and forcing 18.
Phoenix Mercury
The Mercury got its typical offensive production from the Big 3 of Diana Turasi, Skylar Diggins-Smith and Brittney Griner, who combined for 52 of the team’s 77 points and were the only Phoenix players in double digits. They didn’t get the job done on the defensive end, as Diggins-Smith was a -21 and Griner was a -17.
Phoenix has to play better defensively, that much is for certain. The team should be a little more rested and settled in for this one, as they arrived home in the early afternoon Saturday from Las Vegas and had an afternoon game Sunday. The Mercury did win all three regular season games against Chicago, so confidence shouldn’t be an issue.
Chicago at Phoenix Pick
I have this one 84-80 for Chicago, but a little hesitant to go against the Mercury here in what is essentially a must-win game for Phoenix, but also not about to go against an 8-point difference in my numbers and the line, so will go ahead and go against the grain here and take the under 168.5. Think the Mercury look to be a little more deliberate and not let the Sky get off an running.
